Great Notley Photography Club are lucky to have organised two separate day workshops with Professional Landscape Photographer, Fran Halsall. They are booked to take place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August.
About the Workshop
The workshop will take place at the Field Study Centre in Dedham and will run from 9.30 to Sunset. The format of the day will include a mixture of classroom tuition, discussion groups and outside activities. In the morning Fran will discuss the technical requirements for landscape photography, there will be a session on composition and lighting and an opportunity to look at our own work and discuss. After lunch it will be relocating to a nearby location to practice what you have learnt under the keen eye of Fran herself who will be on hand to offer some one to one advice.
Fran has worked as a professional photographer, writer and tutor since 2004 and her time has been spent creating high-quality images of locations and subjects throughout the British Isles. In the last few years she has undertaken some interesting commissions, including the opportunity to write and illustrate three books: “The Peak District” (2008), “Light and Shadow” (2010) and “Shore to Summit” (2013). Fran’s primary passion is documenting geological formations and natural habitats although she also has an interest in historical monuments, architecture and urban spaces.
You could say that light has become an obsession and Fran has spent a good deal of time learning about it, from its behaviour in relation to camera optics, to how it determines our perception of the world, and its impact on us both physically and emotionally. The variable qualities of natural light continue to inspire Fran and photography is the most wonderfully direct medium for recording her observations.
