How to cheat in Photoshop CC

How to cheat in Photoshop CC

We are extremely lucky (thanks to Paul Riches) to have Steve Caplin (http://www.stevecaplin.com/) agree to visit us to provide a talk and a subsequent workshop.

On Thursday 16 January, Steve will be present at our Club night and will be providing a talk to all the members.   On Friday 17 January Steve will be doing a full day workshop covering advanced photoshop skills.

Steve Caplin is a graphic artist specialising in photomontage illustration. His work has appeared in newspapers and magazines both in the UK and around the world, including The Guardian, L’Internazionale, The Sunday Times, The Independent, Radio Times, Men’s Health, Reader’s Digest and Businessweek among many others.

Advertising work has included commissions from Saatchi & Saatchi, Lowe Howard Spink, M&C Saatchi and Bartle Bogle Hegarty, for which he has won two Campaign Poster Awards and a D&AD award. Steve is also a Contributing Editor for MacUser magazine, and has taught at the University of Westminster and the University of the Arts London. He has lectured on Photoshop techniques and the ethics of image manipulation around the UK, as well as in Norway and the Netherlands.

Steve’s work has been covered in feature articles in Creative Technology, What Digital Camera, Computer Arts and the Journal of Digital Photography, as well as in chapters in The New Mac Designer’s Handbook by Alastair Campbell, and Digital Photography by Tom Ang. Steve is also the author of the "How to cheat in Photoshop" series of books.

Thursday 16 January Talk Contents

General coverage of layers, layer masks, blending modes, advanced blending. Steve makes the session interactive by taking 0a photograph of someone in the audience and then cuts their head out, adding a different body, moving eyes, and so on. It’s entertaining and there’s usually a new skill for everyone to learn.

The cost will be £5 per members and £10 for non-members.  Please invite any other keen photographers to come along.   It’s not too late to attend just email gnpcphoto@gmail.com if you are interested in coming along.

Friday 17 January Workshop Contents

Steve will cover a range of photoshop technologies, including Camera Raw, Smart Objects, Perspective Warp, Puppet Warp, Content-Aware Fill/Healing, and so on.  He will also do a brief session on 3D modelling in Photoshop, as most users don’t know about this function and its uses.

There will be an interactive session on the ethics of photomontage in the hour before lunch, which is a good way to lighten things up after a morning’s concentration. There will also be a question and answer session in which Steve is happy to take any questions people might have and to look at specific Photoshop issues and problems.

The workshop will run from 9.30 to 4.30 and the venue will be Witham Town Football Club, Spa Road, Witham.  A camera, laptop and a version of Photoshop is essential.

The cost will be £50 for club members and £75 for non club members.  Numbers will be limited to 20 participants so please put your name down quickly if you wish to be included in the workshop.

There are currently still places on this workshop so please contact gnpcphoto@gmail.com if you are interested in attending.

Payment for the workshop will need to be made in advance of the workshop if not your space will be opened up.   Having participated in many courses £50 for a whole day course with a professional represents fantastic value.
