Special Interest Group Workshop – Light Painting

Special Interest Group (SIG) night: It’s always a joy when members take over to lead on one of their particular areas of photography skill. Such was the case on Thursday as Neil took a strobist session on “painting with light”.

Gathering at a, now very rare, location with minimal light pollution, Neil showed how to combine non-specialist and readily available LED lighting with long shutter speeds, to create various different light effects.

He was also on hand to give advice as members split into teams to put the theory into practice. We had “fires”, orbs and light writing amongst others. A fun time was had by all and many skills learned.
